Lordz Of Fitness

This post is coming a little late, but better late than never as they say. The DMC World Finals took place a few weeks back (Oct 6th -7th) at the Indig02 Arena in London, England. This was the first time in three years i haven't competed in the world finals (let alone not go at all) and i must say it was somewhat heartbreaking. The DMC finals weekend is like a dreamland for dj's. For me, it's more like a 3 day bender of booze and jetlag with good friends from all over the world, haha seriously such a dope time. Meeting legends in the game like Rob Swift to Qbert or even sitting next to Gza at breakfast! Who knows what could happen! Either way, i look back on those three years and i'm happy to have been a part of such an amazing event. Its really rad, Thanks DMC! Anyways, i wanted to post a little something about my German amigo's,The Lordz Of Fitness Crew! These guys have been running the turntablist/battle game for a minute now and all together have won almost every world title there is to win! Most recently, the 2007 World DMC finals. This year the honors go to the homie Rafik! After placing second to I-Emerge in 2004 and 3rd in 2006, he finally took the crown as the worlds best turntablist for 07! Dude's routine was just straight bonkers (even with some skips!)! I know i probably shouldnt be posting this and it will most likely get taken off youtube soon (go buy the dvd when it drops god damn it!) but here it is none the less! Well deserved Raf!



Rafik's crewmate, Kid Fresh, has also been on his grizzly putting out killer mixes via the blog world. Being a world champion himself (ITF Teams with his crew and ITF Beatjuggling), he's able to bring that turntablist element to his mixes and remixes that only a select few can really fuck with. He stands out in this jaded time of "ipod dj's", straight goods! Here's one of my favorite Kid Fresh mixes as well as his amazing Lil Mama "Lip Gloss" Remix. Stellar work all round! The Twelves

!The Twelves are a production duo formed by J. Miguel and Luciano Oliveira hailing from Rio De Janeiro, Brazil. I just recently discovered them (even though they've been sorta floating around the blog world for a while) and I must admit, I'm kinda bummed i just found out about them now. I love that electro pop/indie dance rock sound and it seems as though the The Twelves have nailed it on the head. They've been making noise with their M.I.A remix but it's their Asobi Seksu and Eriend Oye remixes that have me bugging out! Thank the lord there's more than just Baile Funk coming out of South America! Be on the lookout for more fire from these cats. They have a remix of New Young Pony Club's "Get Lucky" dropping soon. Here's the goods!

Radiohead

Okay okay. I know every blog and their mom have been posting about the new Radiohead album "In Rainbows" over the past few weeks. I suppose it's somewhat accredited to the way they released their album (if you didn't know, it's available for download here at whatever price you wish to pay), or just due to the fact they are one of the greatest bands off all time. Either way, they have alot of hype on this one. I went and copped the album for $7 and i can honestly (and embarassingly) say it's been a while since i've spent money on music, but i'm glad i did. It's been well worth it and then some. I'm just going to post one tune from it for now... It was a tough decision to pic a favorite because the more i listen to the album, the more certain songs have grown on me. I'm really loving this one though.

Radiohead - All I Need

Back in January, i did a mix for the "Mixin It Up" series at Discobelle. I had been doing this blend of Radiohead's "Street Spirit (Fade Out)" and the instrumental of Jay-Z's "Jigga What Jigga Who" at home for fun and decided to throw it on the mix. Even though it's not very club friendly, i still think it's a good listen. So here it is, enjoy!
